To the Driver of a Subaru (maybe),

I’ve been getting pretty close to giving up. This writing thing is tough, and, well, I’m a dinosaur. I don’t understand the media-socials. I tried emailing important people, pleaded with writers in groups, I created a twitter account to send direct messages (but then got locked out); hell, I even dropped a note in a bucket and offered it up to the ocean. I didn’t know if anyone would ever read these letters.

But then you shared your story in an email to me, and without ever having met (or not…wink, wink), our experiences are so similar. We have a lot in common. Your message helped me believe this could work. You gave me hope. You also inspired me. I made this video shortly before discovering we would be moving. I never really shared it with anyone. I don’t know why. Like you, I put a lot of effort into it.

When the time is right, I may take you up on that offer of a painting (or a sculpture) and a sweet treat to eat. I hope you share your art with the world. It’s needed.

Your words help save me. Thank you.

love,
a teacher
